The Beginnings of our EMS Services

In our rural areas waiting 15 or 20 minutes for an ambulance was quite the norm, so in 1998 we put our first ambulance into service. In 1999, we became the first and only ambulance company in Adams County, Pennsylvania to ever go one full year without a single "failure to respond!" That means we have answered 100% of all of our calls, no matter the hour of day or night or weather conditions, within the allotted 5 minute time limit!

Today, nearly SIX years later, we have kept this record intact, never failing a call, and we boast that no other fire company here in Adams County, Pa has ever been able to duplicate our record. Believe it or not, our average response time in getting out the door is under thirty seconds.

We are very proud of our accomplishments including the fact that our facilities have been approved by the PA Department of Health as an accredited Con-Ed facility, which means we area able to use our facilities for a teaching/training facility.

In our EMS company we have four ice and cold water, nationally recognized rescue technicians. We have two, American Heart Association, CPR instructors, and two PA state certified vehicle rescue technicians. Additionally we have three EMT's capable of teaching the proper emergency treatment of "Brain Trauma Injuries", one Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) instructor, and also one "Blood Borne Pathogens" instructor.
